Kunming to Shangri-la
The world is changing at a very fast pace. More and more places are becoming affected by global trends and movements. However, some corners are resisting to these rapid changes. Ironically, I found this pocket in one of the fastest changing countries in the world, China.
Yunnan is the most diverse area in China, both culturally and biologically. I luckily had the chance to explore some of the less visited regions in Yunnan and based on my experiences, I’ve designed a colourful and educational photography tour to Yunnan’s; Kunming, Dali, Lijiang and Shangri-La prefectures.
Yunnan is a large place (well over the size of Germany). It is impossible to visit all of her beautiful corners during a short 12-day trip. I think the North-West is an excellent start. There are stunning natural wonders such as Tiger Leaping Gorge and the Stone Forest, majestic mountains like Jade Dragon and tranquil lakes like Erhai waiting to be photographed on our journey. But one other aspect of this region that captivated me the most was her cultural diversity. I am going to lead a small group of photographers (Attendees will be kept at 8 people) on a journey through not only very photogenic surroundings but also the various ethnic components of this section of Yunnan.
